6th Annual Screening with a Meaning and Holocaust Survivors 100th Birthday Celebration
Benefiting the Goodman JFS Holocaust Survivor Assistance Program
This year's film is the documentary Defying the Nazis: The Sharps' War. The story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, a Unitarian minister and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who left their children behind in the care of their parish and boldly committed to multiple life-threatening missions to Europe. Over two dangerous years they helped to save hundreds of imperiled political dissidents and Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazi occupation across Europe.
This movie is directed Ken Burns and Artemis Joukowsky and narrated by Marina Goldman and Tom Hanks. In addition, we will be celebrating Holocaust survivors in Broward County who will turn 100 years old in 2020 (and a few who will celebrate their 100+ birthdays).
